The Anemometer transmitter failed 2 days ago. It has now been replaced.

Friday 14th April 2006
After about 5 months of excellent operation there was a glitch earlier this week. The wind information stopped working (the most important part!). It turns out that the anemometer itself was fine, but the wirelss transmitter unit had failed. It has now been replaced.

Sunday 9th October
I have now installed a new, higher, mast for the anemometer, using an old dinghy mast donated by Olly Wyatt. It is more sturdy, and hinges at the base, so the mast can easily be lowered for maintenance. It may also help reduce the wind-shadowing of westerly winds, caused by the high trees beyond the car park.

I notice that the anenometer is not recording winds light winds - I will check it out next Saturday.

Tuesday 20th Sept
Apologies. Its been a glitchy few days. The broadband connection dropped out briefly on Wednesday, and didn't re-establish itself. The modem had to be re-booted on Friday (the first chance I had to get to the Club). I have now fitted a timer which re-boots it every night. Then on Saturday finger trouble on my part caused a few days of problems. It's OK again now.

Friday 2nd Sept
I am glad to say that the system is up and running again now.

Sunday 28th August - No service.
The broadband modem appears to have failed on Monday 22nd August, when I was on holiday. I have asked Qnet, who supply the broadband, to replace it on Wed afternoon if they can.

Also, the anemometer is no longer sending a signal to the weather station. I don't know if this happened at the same time as the modem failure. They aren't connected in any way. I have a spare transmitter, but if the anemoeter itself is the problem it will take a week or so to repace it.

Apologies for any inconvenience.

Friday 5 August
The web upload was off-line for a few hours today due to an ADSL line fault. It is OK now.

There are a couple of outsatanding issues:
a) The webcam pictures sometimes appear in an odd order. Try refreshing the page a few times, and they should sort themselves out. Mike is looking at a permanent solution.
b) It has been suggested that the anenometer is reading low. This is hard to check. I would welcome any feedback. The 'forecast' page includes recent readings from Teesside airport, but this is quite a long way away.

Saturday 9th July
I am delighted to report that WeatherVigil is working fine now.

Friday 14th June
Unfortunately the storm last week fried our BT line, and some parts of WeatherVigil

WeatherVigil is now repaired, but we are still waiting for BT. We only realised that the line was out today, so it may be a few days b efore they can respond.

Apologies!
